BROTHERS OF MERCY OF SAINT JOHN OF GOD Misericordia PrioryHospice of St. John of God Igulot, Bocaue, 3018 Bulacan,Philippines DECEMBER2008-November 2009 Do good to yourself, by doing good to others September 26, 2009 -After the flood The whole ground floor of the Priory-Hospice was flooded.- patients, Brothers,workers and neighbors were crowded together on the second floor. Beside the material damage to the buildings, all our official documents and many of our books were destroyed. What supply of rice we had was also destroyed. But more serious than this was the sickness and death among the patients due to post flood infection. It will take a long time to repair the Hospice. In spite of all this, things are running smoothly here again.
November 14-16, 2009 Catholic Deaf Care I (Br. Terence) andBr. Bernard attended the 20th Catholic Congress for the Deaf held at PacoCatholic School, Paco, Manila.
July 1 FEAST OF THE MOST PRECIOUS BLOOD. And at the same time, the 20thAnniversary of the Brothers of Mercy of St. John of God in Bulacan. After Holy Mass, a short program was offered for our Patients, Relatives, Friends and Benefactors with our Chaplain Rev. Fr. Avel Sampana and guest priests. Br. Ignatius Sudol, O.H. and Ms. Irene Moffat from theUnited States arrived to celebrate our twentieth anniversary with us. Awarding Ceremony to those who finished and passed the Graduate Psychiatric Attendant Course and also for those who finished the classes on the Spirituality of St. John of God. National Episcopal Commission Congress on HealthCare April 22. We attended the First National Episcopal Commission Congress on Health Care held at Lay Formation Center, San Carlos Seminary, Guadalupe, Makati. We were invited to speak about the apostolate forthe mentally-ill. Symposia March6- 9thSymposium on Mental Illness at Bocaue, Bulacan with the theme: The Filipino Bonding Traits of SocialLife with students from different colleges, young people, Barangay Health Care Workers and Church Organizations.
Nov.15-10thSymposium on Mental-Illness with the themes: What DrivesYour Life?
was held at the Colegio de San Gabriel Archangel, Sapang Palay, City of San Jose del Monte.
February 10- 8thSymposiumat Colegio de San Gabriel Archangel, Sapang Palay, City
of San Jose del Monte,Bulacan with the theme: Understanding Mental-illness. participating were more than a hundred psychology students.
