Counsels

The Counsels of Misericordia are- and should always remain- quite simple.

1. A Reunion of the parish Members on the first Sunday of the month.

2. A Reunion of the members of the various parishes of the diocese every three years on the Sunday before the twenty fourth of September- feast of Our Lady of Mercy, for the appointment- by secret vote- of the diocesan Director and his two Counselors who shall have care of the Grand Hospice. Misericordia in each parish should help support the Grand Hospice.

3. The infirm and needy assisted by Misericordia must not be changed for their assistance. If they are able contribute something, it is good- Providence will contribute the rest. ‘Seek first the Kingdom of God and His justice and all else shall be added unto you.’

4. Misericordia requires no special spiritual obligations other than those of the ordinary Faithful. Let us see in the Divine Heart the symbol of Mercy- the symbol of Misericordia. And let us often kiss our little image of the Heart of Jesus that we may learn mercy at this center of Mercy.
